Believe it or not, Japan is the country for SNS, Social Network Service(or Social Software).

Long before there were orkut or Friendster, we had a service like Yubi-toma (since ’96) and Kanshin.com (since 2000).

And since February 2004, we have started seeing announcements of new SNS almost every two weeks.

Let me present to you some of my favorites.

I read about this interesting Web site called MOONBASE on Going My Way.

It is a shockwave contents that let you walk/drive on the moon.

When I visited there last night (Japan time), there wasn't a sould and I enojyed the silence of the moon.

実際に使ってみるとたしかによくできている！

Orkut is a new Social Network Service backed by Google.

Right now it is in beta testing stage and you have to be invited to join it but I assure it is one of the best in its kind and you will see some of the best people in the information industry there.

I am also expecting it to be the ultimate SPAM free mail service; so I can send/receive all important mails throught it and only launch my mail program occasionally.

Of course, there is one big fault. orkut is not yet Japanese (characters) friendly.

今日、「【御請求通知】」というメールが２通届いた

アダルトサイトの利用料が未納になっているから、今日の３時までに振り込んで欲しい

振り込まない場合は高い遅延金を支払え

というアダルトサイトや怪しそうなサイトを避けている人にはすぐにわかる嘘の内容．．．

そうでなくても今日の３時までとか、5000円とかいう法外な遅延金は、あきらかに詐欺っぽい

こうした詐欺行為はいったいどこに通報したらいいものか、と思いiChat中の仕事仲間にそのことを話したところ、そちらの方の一般公開アドレスにもまったく同じ内容のメールが（やはり２通）届いていたようです
