ついに真打ち!?と思えるサービスが登場!
Googleがバックについているというorkut!
今のところ招待ベースでしか参加できませんが、今日、UKの友人からその招待状が...
実際に使ってみるとたしかによくできている！

業界の有名人も大勢いますが、すっかり縁遠くなってしまった人などもたくさんいて（個人的に）実に楽しい！
久々にハマってしまいました。
まだβテスト中のサービスですが、すでにSafariのデフォルトホームページにしてしまいました。

メール機能も備えているので、重要なメールを送ってきそうな人たちを全員orkut!に誘っておけば、究極のSPAMの回避策にもなるとも思い始めています（メールソフトは、たまに元気がある時だけ起動すればいいというわけです）。もしかしたら、ソーシャルネットワーク系サービスは、SPAM回避の究極の策かも知れませんね...

もっとも、Orkutにも１つ重大な欠点が、今のところ日本語のメッセージングは文字化けしちゃうみたいでサポートしていないんですよね．．．

ここは平田さんの出番か!?（笑）　＞＞平田さんも今日から参加だったんですね！

実際に使ってみるとたしかによくできている！

Orkut is a new Social Network Service backed by Google.

Right now it is in beta testing stage and you have to be invited to join it but I assure it is one of the best in its kind and you will see some of the best people in the information industry there.

I am also expecting it to be the ultimate SPAM free mail service; so I can send/receive all important mails throught it and only launch my mail program occasionally.

Of course, there is one big fault. orkut is not yet Japanese (characters) friendly.

Apple reports Q1 2004

I just got back from MACWORLD EXPO/SAN FRANCISCO + International CES and trying to adjust my body clock to JST (in vain). But thanks to waking up early, I could check Apple reporting Q1 result in real-time. They are net profit of $63 million, or $.17 per diluted share. Revenue for the quarter reached a four-year high of $2.006 billion, up 36 percent from the year-ago quarter.

However, nobody seems to be reporting because of a news of bigger magnitude: JP Morgan buying Bank One (which can be the 3rd biggest deal ever).

I used to be a BankOne customer (orignally, an M Bank customer) and am surprised with this news as well.
