Today was the press opening for Apple Store Ginza.
Steve Jobs, the CEO of Apple Computer, Inc. has presented the first Apple Store outside US which also is the first Apple retail store to be more than two street levels.
During the presentation Steve Jobs and Ron Johnson have revealed that they will be opening the second retail store in Japan fall 2004 in Osaka. The precise location are to be announced at later date.
Apple Store Ginza is the first retail store that will use elevetors (instead of glass stairs found in other Apple Retail Stores). It will also be the first retail store that will have 48 hours turn around time repair service.

アップルコンピューターCEO、スティーブ・ジョブズと直営店事業担当のロン・ジョンソンがアメリカ国外では初となるアップル直営店を紹介しました。全アップル直営店としては初めてとなる３階以上の建物で、米国のフラグシップ店では馴染みのガラスの階段の代わりに１、２、３、４階（開店後は５階も？）を順にまわる（フロアボタンのない）エレベーターが２基用意され、その両脇に非常用階段が２つ用意されています。
この他に米国の直営店にないサービスとして、最長48時間で製品を修理する対面修理サービスなども提供、またサエグサビル屋上には直営店では初というグルグル回る看板が...
直営店についてのプレゼンテーションの中、ロン・ジョンソン氏は、この銀座店を日本唯一の直営店にするわけではないとして、2004年秋に大阪にも直営店をオープンすると発表しました。
今日は夜遅くまで予定が入っていますが、後で可能ならば店内の写真などをアップしようと思います。

I was just at the SoHo NYC Apple store trying to get my mail.app problem fixed (junk mail filter crashes mail.app) and now I have those spots on my 15" PB LCD, so I'm definitely going in to have the LCD replaced.

Oh, there are couple of other things I wanted to mention: the new Apple Store Ginza will have an Internet Cafe on the fourth floor; i don't think they are actually serving any drinks but you can use the iMacs there to surf the net, etc.
There are clerks that speak languages other than Japanese and English. In total, they will be covering over 10 languages including Chinese, Thai, Korean, Italian, French, Portuguese y español (por su puesto!)
